Renowned and beloved German twins, Alice and Ellen Kessler, aged 89, opted to die together via Assisited Dying because the "thought of one outliving the other was unbearable." The identical twins made their US debut in 1963 and traveled worldwide with many of Variety's best known entertainers.
Their decision to die together came after more than a year of consultaiton with a lawyer and a doctor and was free of any impulsive or irrational acton. Germany's Supreme Court in 2020 recognised a right to "assisted suicide" under certain circumstances, where the individual is acting in a clear-headed way.
